Tommy Huie

Tommy Huie, a recipient of the 2024 President’s Volunteer Service Lifetime Achievement Award, is a dedicated community leader and IT professional who has made significant contributions to the LGBTQ+ and Asian Pacific Islander communities in San Francisco. As the IT Specialist at the Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center, he has applied his technical expertise to support public health and community services. Huie has served on the Northeast Community Federal Credit Union board for over a dozen years, contributing more than 4,600 hours through board service, committee work, and pro bono IT services. His commitment to financial accessibility and community development has helped strengthen vital economic resources for underserved populations. In recognition of his outstanding service, Huie received the prestigious GODZY Award from the Gay Asian Pacific Alliance (GAPA) in 2002. This honor, GAPA’s highest accolade, acknowledges his enduring impact on both the organization and the broader Queer and Trans Asian Pacific Islander (QTAPI) community. As a former GAPA board member, he has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to advance LGBTQ+ and API causes, exemplifying the selfless dedication to community service that has now earned him national recognition through the President’s Volunteer Service Lifetime Achievement Award.
